Do you have what it takes?
Animal Care Volunteer
Our animal care volunteers work initially on a morning shift, at least one day a week. Each shift is 5 hours long and we expect volunteers to complete the full 5 hours because if they don't, the animals don't get cleaned and fed, so that can't happen!
Every animal we have is stressed, sick or injured. We need people who can be calm when dealing with frightened animals, deal with crisis situations with confidence and compassion and enjoy working independently as part of a fast paced team.
Full training is given, the initial training is part of a 6 week probationary period which volunteers have to pass within the time frame.
Volunteers are expected to work one weekend morning every 2 months.
Working with the animals is rewarding but needs full commitment. We are as hands off as possible, we return these animals to the wild so they cannot be imprinted by human contact, this is not a role for someone who thinks they will be cuddling animals!
Housekeeping and Maintenance
We have other roles available including site maintenance and housekeeping. As previous roles, these will suit individuals who are able to work independently within a wider team. Handyman skills or just yard clearance ability are welcome as is someone who can load a dishwasher, mop a floor and hang out washing!
For any of our volunteering roles please email us at hello@yorkshiredaleswildliferescue.com or use the contact box below and we will arrange an interview when we start our next intake.
