Our Standard of Care

We are proud to be an Associate Organisation member of the British Wildlife Rehabilitation Council (BWRC). It means that we aim to offer the best possible treatment for the wildlife in our care.

Established in 2014, BWRC is the only organisation in the UK dedicated to improving native wildlife casualty welfare, through the support and education of workers in the field. To ensure the highest standards of care and welfare for wildlife casualties, it has developed a 10-point set of core principles that form the foundation of our work.

Penny Hunt, our Co-founder, says: "We are proud to have some of the best release rates in the UK. As many will know, we released 74% of our patients back into the wild last year - a figure that is way over the national average of 42.6%. We work extremely hard to make sure the wildlife we care for has the best chance to return to its wild life. Of course, success rates are affected by a huge amount of things - the condition in which we receive the animal, its age and how quickly it comes to us once found, for example. However, if we have the best operational foundation we can have, then we know for sure that we have a chance of doing our absolute best for that animal. The BWRC's 10-point plan enables us to do just that."

It enables us to share best practice, make new connections, find new collaborators and ensure we are all continually developing what we do. We want to give animals the best possible chance of returning to the wild."
